Healthy Spud Facts

It is safe to say I am one of the world’s healthiest foods. I intend to unleash the power of the potato by educating the people of Northern Ireland on the nutritional creds of the mighty spud.

National Diet and Nutrition Survey (NDNS)

The data shows that one medium sized potato with its skin on has just 100 calories and is absolutely fat, sodium, cholesterol and gluten free! It also makes significant contributions to the nation’s daily intake of many vital nutrients, namely:

14% of Vitamin B6

15% of potassium

14% of Vitamin C

12% of thiamin (Vitamin B1)

10% of folate

Did you know?

    • Children get more Vitamin C, B1, B6, folate, iron, magnesium and potassium from potatoes than from so called superfoods like beetroot, bananas, nuts, broccoli and avocado (Pffh… it’s all about being mighty)

        • Potatoes contain less calories than the same serving of rice and pasta

We have loads of recipe ideas for tasty, quick potato inspired meals for all the family!
